9:00am Opening Keynote: HR on the Precipice in the Future of Work.

Change is occurring at breakneck speed as the digital revolution rolls across the business landscape, disrupting and energising everything in its path. Almost every facet of work is being challenged: from where and when we work, to how, with what and with whom. Human resources (HR) practices of the past are failing fast and a clear pathway forward is not readily apparent.

This opening presentation sets the scene for the program and introduces:

  • The digital transformation that is occurring before our eyes and its implication for the future of work.
  • Emerging science and technology and what this will mean for workforce management.
  • The changing nature of the relationship between employers and employees.
  • The dissection of traditional HR models and practices, questioning the real role and contribution of HR in this future.
9:45am The Big Questions for HR

This interactive session is based on the premise that we need to formulate strategy by asking the right questions, not searching for answers.

Delegates discuss their current strategic priorities and hear from industry leaders on the critical questions for HR.

Our research points to five questions that C-level executives, CHROs and HR professionals should be asking themselves. Responding to these questions enables delegates to better understand the impact of the changing work landscape for their organisation and their own career.

10:45am  The 3 HR Intelligences

There is a shift in the skills and mindsets necessary for HR to survive and excel. We define these skills and mindsets across three intelligences:

  • Digital intelligence
  • Cultural intelligence
  • Business intelligence

This session introduces the intelligences and potential barriers to their development. Delegates complete a self-assessment prior to the program and receive individual results to formulate their personal learning goals.

 11:15am  Mastering Digital Intelligence

The digital transformation is well underway, and HR strategies and practices that fail to optimise technology will hold their organisations back. Most HR leaders and professionals are on a digital learning trajectory. Awareness of its importance is generally high, but capability to optimise it is often sub par.

Session outcomes for delegates include:

  • An understanding of the dierence between digital proficiency and intelligence, and what this means for their personal development.
  • Increased knowledge of the digital landscape – current and emerging technologies and workplace applications.
  • Practical strategies that can be implemented now to improve personal and organisational digital intelligence.
 12:30pm  Lunch and Refreshment

Following a lunch and networking break, delegates participate in a cognitive or physical activity of their choice to support mindfulness, refresh and refocus.

1:30pm Mastering Cultural Intelligence

Unleashing engagement and productivity across a diverse and fragmented workforce is testing HR’s cultural intelligence. This session is designed to challenge mindsets and explore new practices relating to leadership, the employment value proposition (EVP) and career mobility.

Session outcomes for delegates include:

• New ways of thinking about the future workforce, based on thought provoking scenarios.

• A reality check of current practices, through exposure to leading edge examples.

• Tangible ‘stop, start, continue’ goals related to leadership, the EVP, and/or career mobility practices.

Best practices in HR have been over-used and over-simplify the complexities of human systems and behaviours. Re-imagining 20th century systems and practices is an urgent priority to elevate the impact and contribution of HR.

Session outcomes for delegates include:

  • An understanding of how to use the Cynefin Framework to re-think HR practices.
  • A critical evaluation of their performance management practices using an objective methodology.
  • Identification of HR practices that are not adding business or human capital value and should be divested.
3:45pm Prioritise and Activate

This session supports consolidation and application. Delegates prioritise outcomes and actions that they have identified during the program andtranslate these into short-term commitments and goals.Facilitators introduce the One Month Bootcamp Challenge that will support delegates in achieving their personal and organisational goals.

Karen’s extreme passion for the company is evident in her work and attitude, which has been publicly acknowledged by being listed as 28th on BRW’s Top 50 Female Entrepreneurs in June 2006 and winning the Ernst and Young ‘Young Entrepreneur of the Year’ for 2008 and the Victorian Telstra Womens Business Award in 2009.

Sylvia is co-author of CLIFFHANGER and a regular speaker in the field of human capital management and neuroscience, and drives research and thought-leadership at PageUp. She has more than 25 years of experience in corporate and entrepreneurial business environments, including positions as Head of Selection and Development at Westpac Banking Corporation and Human Resources Manager for Citibank Limited.

Patrick has extensive experience working as a consultant in both the public and private sectors. His clients regard him as an expert facilitator and he is regularly called on to assist with complex problems and difficult situations that need an expert and reliable hand. He has taught at University level in Australia and the UK, and is currently on the adjunct faculty of the Australian Graduate School of Management. Patrick holds a Master of Science in Decision Sciences from the London School of Economics, Master of Education in Mathematics Education from QUT, a Graduate Diploma of Teaching and a Bachelor of Arts. Patrick is a Director of People and Decisions.

Chris is an experienced organisational change and HR executive. As Human Resources Director for Australian Red Cross from 2008 to 2016, he was responsible for the frameworks, systems, tools, policies and reporting for a workforce of 2,500 staff and 22,000 volunteers. Prior to joining Australian Red Cross, Chris was Executive Director Human Resources with Alfred Health and he has held multiple HR roles in organisations such as Affinity Health, Mayne, Kraft Foods and Bonlac Foods. Today Chris works in partnership with leadership teams, providing expertise, coaching and practical support, underpinned by professional competencies in business and HR.

She has more than 15 years of experience delivering organisational development solutions, consulting and advisory services to a diverse range of companies. As Head of Consulting (APAC) at Alexander Mann Solutions, she leads a team of Subject Matter Experts delivering consulting, technology implementation and best-practice talent acquisition solutions. Joy began her career in Sydney, recruiting experienced IT professionals. She then worked onsite with a global software vendor, and managed their regional recruitment function. Prior to joining Alexander Mann Solutions, Joy held a regional Implementation role, where she was responsible for the successful roll out of RPO and Contingent worker solutions, regionally and globally.
